College of Eastern Utah’s library is located in the middle of campus for easy accessibility for all departments and students on campus to use. Its hours are Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The library is important on campus because students can spend time studying, completing research or checking out books. Some may think that the library is just a library filled with books, but it really has some great things to offer. It has some of the newest movies and CDs released for check out.
The new movies range between Garfield, The Stepford Wives, A Cinderella Story, Elf, Hero and Kill Bill Volume 2. These are just a sampling of the different movies that they have available for anyone to check out.
They also have different series of TV shows on DVD such as CSI: Las Vegas, Friends, Nip/Tuck, Sex and the City and The Sopranos. These are available for all those people that love these shows and cannot get enough watching them once a week. Also for some of the shows that are no longer being played, these will fill your cravings to watch your favorite show all over again.
For those of you that love to watch old movies, they also have a collection of silent films. If you were not looking for that old of a movie, check out Pride and Prejudice, Grease, Flash Dance, Footloose or Sixteen Candles.
There are not just movies to make you a couch potato, the library has workout videos. They range from Yoga, Pilates, Abs of Steel and Tae Bo.
The library also has CDs ranging with genres from country, pop, punk, rock, classical and show tunes. If there are some new CDs that you would like to request the library to purchase, fill out a request form at the main desk.
The audio collection of books is big with books like The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, The Fellowship of the Ring, War and Peace, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Holes.
If you really like to read the daily or weekly news, the library carries all the local, regional, state and some national newspapers. They have newspapers such as The Eagle, Salt Lake Tribune, Deseret News, Sun Advocate, Emery County Progress and the Wall Street Journal. You can also look up different kinds of newspapers on the online system. They also carry back issues and micro film.
If you are more into magazines rather than newspapers, some of the selections include American Theatre, National Geographic, Video Maker, Rolling Stone, YM and Vibe.
Now do not forget about the novels they have on the shelves. Admittedly, they do not have a big selection because it is mainly an academic library. They do have some on the bottom floor and you can always use your CEU library card at the public library if you want additional selections.
There is also a small computer lab with 16 computers that you can use at anytime during open hours. There is also an online card catalog so that you can look up the different subjects that you may want to check out.
There are some rules in the library such as no cell phones turned on or used because this disturbs others while they are studying. Also no food is allowed, but you can bring drinks with lids. When you get a minute, make your way over to the library and take some time to look at the different things they have to offer.
