Remote access to Pioneer databases available for students, faculty and staff

Access to information has never been easier than it is in our world today. Anytime of day or night, via electronic means, people can and do go “on-line” to access all types of information. The CEU library staff recognizes that students and faculty expect information access 24/7 for research, fact finding and personal interest.
In order to meet this expectation and remain relevant in today’s information-rich learning environment, the library offers remote access to the Academic Pioneer subscription databases. Academic Pioneer databases provide both scholarly and popular articles in all disciplines. Articles are available on-line in full-text and citation/abstract. Students and faculty have access 24/7 to literally hundreds of thousands of authoritative articles in all fields of study.
To access Academic Pioneer, log on to the library homepage at library.ceu.edu/.
From the list of links on the left side of the main library page, click on Journals and Databases, this will take you to a page with a direct link to Academic Pioneer. Click on Academic Pioneer and you will be presented with a list of alphabetically organized subscription article databases.
At this point, it will be up to the searcher to decide which article database to select. As reference librarian for CEU, I most often recommend beginning any on-line subscription database search in a service called EBSCOhost Web Databases. EBSCOhost Web is a vendor that provides access to several article databases which in turn contain thousands of full-text articles as well as citation/abstract of articles. Information is both scholarly and popular.
CEU students, staff and faculty may access Academic Pioneer databases on campus without a password. However, off campus you must have the ID and password to access the subscription databases in Academic Pioneer. The ID is Library, and the Password is Patron. Other subscription databases services include SIRS, ProQuest (mainly newspapers), J-Store and Project Muse.
