Journalism students honored

The Eagle sponsored a high-school journalism competition with over 200 entries from seven high schools in Utah submitting work. Twelve categories for newspaper and yearbook entries were selected with CEU faculty and staff judging each entry.
High schools participating included Layton, Weber, Carbon, Pleasant Grove, Parowan, Bingham and Spanish Fork.
In the front page design category (newspaper), first place went to Weber High School; second, Carbon High School; and third, Pleasant Grove High School.
In the cover design category (yearbook), first place went to Layton High School; second, Pleasant Grove High School; and third, Spanish Fork High School.
In the overall layout category (newspaper), first place went to Weber High School; second, Carbon High School; and third, Pleasant Grove High School. Honorable mention went to Parowan High School.
In the overall layout category (yearbook), first place went to Spanish Fork High School; second place, Layton High School; and third, Pleasant Grove High School.
In the news writing category, first went to Seth Terashima from Bingham High School; second, Clay Peterson; and third, Matt Jeffs, both from Weber High School.
In the sports writing category, Weber High School students swept the awards with first place going to Hawley Kunz; second, Kayla McBrid; and third, Jared Pfost. Honorable mention went to Hawley Kunz.
In the feature writing category, first place went to Marcie Chidester, Bingham High School, second, Macey Matthews, Carbon High School; and third, Anson Adams, Spanish Fork High School. Honorable mention went to Tyler Wood, Weber High School.
In the opinion/editorial writing category, first went to Kristyn Lambrecht, Weber High School; second, Hawley Kunz, Weber High School; and third, Jeremy Sheikh, Carbon High School. Honorable mention went to Hawley Kunz, Weber High School.
In the photography category, first went to Zach Chapman, Weber High School; second, Heather Dean, Weber High School; and third, Brianna Scoville, Carbon High School.
In page layout category, first went to Holly Hughes, Carbon High School; second, Brianna Scoville, Carbon High School; and third, Lara Bradley,
