107.9 The Edge hosts Friday Night Schmoozers
Are you looking or something to do on a Friday night? 107.9 The Edge has a solution: The Friday Night Schnoozers.
Beginning October 14th, 2005, The Friday Night Schmoozers is a concert series hosted by The Edge. The series will feature a variety of local and regional bands. The first show will feature The Edge’s own Nick Bates and his new band, and two other local bands. Future Friday Night Schmoozers will feature a variety of musical genres for different tastes. Announcements of concert dates will be made on The Edge and in The Eagle.
The series will be held in the Old Ballroom in the SAC. Doors will open at 7:30 and the first set will begin at 8 p.m.
Tickets will be sold at the door. The cost is $3.00 per person, or $5 per couple. Drinks and pizza will also be available for sale at the event.
The concert series serves as a fund-raising effort for 107.9 The Edge. Providing the radio station’s signal to campus has costs associated with it. These include a weekly music service that keeps The Edge as current as any station in the nation. The service costs The Edge $600 per year. Raising funds helps support the station in the music service, and upgrading equipment.
The Edge has been on the air since Fall 2002. It is an auxiliary of the Communication Department. Students staff the station which runs 24/7 providing music and campus information to students and the community.
