Eagles plow Snow and CNCC, struggle with rest of conference

Christmas came a few weeks early for the CEU Lady Eagles as they handed the Snow College Badgers a 28-point loss on December 8. Shooting guard Elisha Harris led the team in scoring, contributing 13 points, she went 5 for 9 from the field with four field goals and one three pointer. Before the Eagles could face Snow they first had to take on the feisty Dixie State Rebels. The Eagles played well, with Elisha Harris pouring in 13 points and Stasi Little wrapping up 9 rebounds. Despite good performances from Harris and Little, Dixie won defeating the Eagles 68-56.
The Eagles then faced off against Snow where they jumped out to an early lead, and never looked back. They went into the break with a commanding lead of 40-25. The Eagles as a team put up some impressive numbers finishing the game with a shooting percentage of .400, and a three-point percentage of .364. The Badgers on the other hand struggled mightily from beyond the arc making only one three pointer off 11 tries. After the game Coach Dave Paur praised the Eagles tough defense saying “we are a very good defensive team so we are generally in every game.”
After the shellacking of Snow, the Eagles traveled up north to tangle with the Salt Lake Community College Bruins. The lady Eagles were embarrassed by the Bruins losing the game by twenty points. The Eagles fell to the Bruins by a score of 54-74. The Bruins took control early and by halftime were up by twenty. The Eagles improved in the second half putting up thirty points but they were unable to over come the deficit of the first half.
After a two week break the Eagle returned to action on December 27, hoping to remove the bitter taste of loss as they faced off against Barton Community College. The Eagles showed improvement since the last game, but still could not manage to win. They dropped the game 73-52. The Eagles were led in points once again by Elisha Harris who scored 10, and Stasi Little controlled the boards pulling in 12 rebounds.
The Eagles then took on The Black-hawk East College Warriors. The Eagles dominated BEC, holding them to just 16 points in the first half. Krislyn Wallace shined for the Eagles leading them in points (10) and rebounds (7). CEU out shot, out rebounded, and just plain out played the Warriors, defeating them 58-39.
The Eagles also beat the Nevada All-Stars (79-68), and lost three games to College of Southern Idaho (66-53), North Idaho College (74-71 OT), and Western Wyoming (55-49). After the loss to Western Wyoming Coach Dave Paur said “For us to improve we have run are offense better and take better shots and get the ball inside more.” Paur added “When our offense is on we are very good, unfortunately we are not consistent.”
The Eagles have a week break before they travel to Twin Falls to take on the always formitable CSI Golden Eagles on Friday January 27th.
