Enrollment takes another dive
There are fewer people at CEU than there were at this time last semester. This is part of a trend at CEU.
As of the day 19 (school days) CEU’s enrollment is down 6.6 percent from 2004. In 2004 on day 19 there was an 18 percent drop from 2003.
Many people have also changed majors since last semester at this time. The departments with the most students majoring in them are the same but the numbers have changed.

There are fewer people at CEU than there were at this time last semester. This is part of a trend at CEU.
As of the day 19 (school days) CEU’s enrollment is down 6.6 percent from 2004. In 2004 on day 19 there was an 18 percent drop from 2003.
Many people have also changed majors since last semester at this time. The departments with the most students majoring in them are the same but the numbers have changed.
The largest major is still pre-nursing however there are five fewer people that have declared that major since last semester and there are now 131 declared pre-nursing majors. There were 99 business majors last semester, which number is now down to 96.
Criminal justice has 73 now a drop from 85 in the fall. One of the largest changes comes in the number of students who are not seeking degrees, 134 in the fall 255 in the spring. Nursing has seen an increase, from 30 to 55 this semester.
Automotive has gained 10 students since the fall to rest at 30 this spring. Engineering has gained eight students, going from 39 in the fall to 47 now. Welding has gone from 30 down to 22. Education has lost four students to go from 37 to 33 this semester.
Liberal and general studies have gone from 409 in the fall to 403. Premedical lost one student and is now at 20. Psychology went from 30 to 27.
Math and political science have both gone up; math from two to six and political science was at two in the fall and is now at five. Theatre, which was up last semester at 21, is now back at 16. Early childhood is at 24 now, lower than the 30 it had last fall.
Radiology, diesel mechanics, chemistry, geology, heavy equipment and trucking, e-commerce web design and development and biology all gained students this semester. Radiology went up two, from seven to nine. Diesel mechanics also gained two going from 17 to 19.
Heavy equipment and trucking was at eight in the fall and is now at 15. E-commerce web development and design doubled its numbers going from one student in the fall to two in the spring. Two more students than last semester have declared biology as their major, eight compared to last semester’s six. Chemistry also doubled from one to two students over the winter break.
Anatomy, anthropology, business computer information systems, English, history, law enforcement and social science all remained the same. Anatomy, law enforcement and social science all have one student. Anthropology and BCIS both have two while history and English remain at seven. Cosmetology was also stable with 41.
Human resources management stayed at one student. Pre-physical therapy and business administration were also consistent, pre-physical therapy with nine and business administration with 15.
Graphic arts dropped from 17 to 14. Communications (journalism) fell from 16 in the fall to 13. Accounting and computer networking both have 11 students this fall. Accounting was at 16 in the fall and computer networking was at 13.
Pre-dental, physical education mining and music all lost one student over the break. Music started at 10 and is now at nine. Pre-dental started at nine and is now at eighht. Mining was at four in the fall and fell to three in the spring while physical education started at three and is now at two.
Pre-engineering and dance both claimed five students last semester and only three this semester. Administrative assisting and building construction and management both lost three students, administrative assisting dropping from 10 to seven and building construction and management started at seven and dropped to four. Computer science also lost three, with nine in the fall and six in the spring.
Last semester there were 11 art majors, now there are five. Only one student has declared sociology as a major this spring, five did in the fall. Secretarial is also only at one student, it was at three last semester. Pre-forestry fell from six to two.
As of day 19 there are 835 women attending CEU and 701 men, three have not specified. There are 773 freshmen and 766 sophomores.
