Crowd control helps outcome

Scream Team. Student Section. Eagle’s Nest. Whatever you want to call it, College of Eastern Utah’s athletic teams need fans cheering them on if they expect to win games at home.
By far, any sports team performs better if they have others rooting for them. The last home volleyball game I went to, the Lady Eagles were handled quite easily in the first two sets. In the third, however, they came out and for some reason, the crowd was behind them. This third set was easily the most impressive set of the game for CEU. Why? They had moral support.
Recently I attended a Brigham Young Universtiy football game in Provo. Same story. BYU fans were freezing because of the bad weather and were not cheering at all. When the Cougars made a big offensive play, the crowd erupted. From that point on, the fans were loud and boisterous, helping the Cougars to another home victory.
As an athlete in high school, I remember there was no better feeling than having your classmates and friends cheer you on, winning or losing. Our support is exactly what our volleyball and basketball teams need. Before every game, my friends on the volleyball team ask me to come and yell. It helps our athletes perform at a higher level and mades them feel appreciated for their efforts.
For the rest of the year at any home sporting event, I hope that fans come out in large numbers numbers and are loud, to help our Golden Eagles onto victory. They need us.
