Alumna to read poetry on November 11

Wendy Blankenship, Salt Lake City poet and former College of Eastern Utah student, and Mike McClane, Salt Lake City poet, will read their poetry on November 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Jennifer Leavitte Student Center’s Alumni Room. An open mike will follow their reading, and all students, faculty and staff are invited to read their poetry to the audience.

Blankenship is a graduate of CEU and teaches eighth grade reading and English in Salt Lake at Riverwood Middle School. She received her bachelor’s of science degree in English from Southern Utah University and is working on her master’s of fine arts in creative writing through Nairopa University in Boulder, Colo. She has been a Utah, “Wilderness Leader” taking young people on remote backpacks, teaching them writing. She has published in several literary magazines including Bed and Myriad.
McClane lives in Salt Lake and has a bachelor’s of arts degree in English and anthropology. He has served on several literary boards in Salt Lake, including Writers at Work. He also served as adjunct faculty member at the Sawtooth Writers Conference in Stanley, Idaho. His poems have appeared in Byline, Arsenic Lobster, and City Art Journal. He is also pursuing “a somewhat unhealthy fascination with urban legend, side shows, and roadside America.”
The readings are free and open to the public.
