Utah’s online research resources

The CEU Library staff would like to encourage students to make use of the resources available at the library especially at this time of the semester when research papers become due. The CEU Library has hardcopies of several books, magazines, research journals and other materials that cater to the research needs of the college student.

The CEU Library staff would like to encourage students to make use of the resources available at the library especially at this time of the semester when research papers become due. The CEU Library has hardcopies of several books, magazines, research journals and other materials that cater to the research needs of the college student.
Another option for students to use for reliable and authoritative information is the subscription databases offered through the resource known in Utah as Academic Pioneer.
Academic Pioneer is a listing of several subscription database services that this school and other academic institutions in the state subscribe to for purposes of research. Academic Pioneer offers students, faculty and staff free access to a full range of authoritative articles when doing research. The articles are both scholarly and popular. Some articles are as recent as yesterday while other articles date back several decades. Academic Pioneer has a wide range of subjects in many disciplines. There are databases which specialize in information for nursing, business, automotive, agriculture, journalism and criminal justice to name just a few.
In order to access the databases a person must be a student, faculty or staff member or have a CEU community library card. Access on campus is easy and does not require an ID number and password authentication. Just visit the CEU Library via the web at: www.ceu.edu/library/
In order to access the subscription databases off campus users will need to follow these steps:
Visit the library homepage at: www.ceu.edu/library/
Click on: Off campus Database Access: www.ceu.edu:2048/login
The user is instructed to input a user ID number and a password. The ID number is located on your CEU Library card and is the entire 14 digit number. In order to procure the password users will need to call the library at (435) 613-5209 or visiting the library here on campus and asking Lori Brassaw, the CEU Reference Librarian or another staff member.
Once you gain remote access you will be prompted to select a database. I highly recommend EBSCOhost. It has several full-text articles in many subject areas for users. When doing research remember to allow yourself enough time to gather information.
The subscription databases are just one of many resources available for your use while students here at CEU. If you have further questions about the databases or other library questions feel free to drop by the library for further assistance.
