h the cheery season comes the time to help others. One of the many projects is Angel Tree, that begins Nov. 22. This program provides needy children in our community with Christmas presents like clothing and toys.
A Christmas tree will be set up in front of the bookstore in JLSC with paper angels on it. Anyone can pick an angel off the tree and on the back it will list a child’s Christmas wish. For example, an 8 year old girl wants a doll or a 3 year old boy wants pajamas. CEU’s Angel Tree has approximately 400 angels. The person is responsible for buying that child a gift and returning it wrapped to the SUN Center before Friday, December 3. The gifts are then delivered to the children.
Kathy Murray, SUN Center director, began the Angel Tree project in 1996 through the SUN Center. It has since turned into a community-wide project with Angel Trees throughout Price. Murray says this a great service project for college students because, “whether you have a small budget or large budget, the Angel Tree allows you to spend the amount you want because you can choose the gift that is right for you and the Angel child. It brings the joy of Christmas into your life because you think about others besides yourself.”
The SUN Center wishes to thank everyone who has helped make Angel Tree a success in the past by taking time from their busy lives to make someone’s Christmas special.
