Feel movement of dance and music with Wednesday Swing Club

The rhythmic thumping of the drums can shake you to your soul.   The vibrant  horns, chiming staccato beats, drives everyone to their feet.   The combination of forces forms the irresistable sounds of swing.   On a Wednesday night is the chance to feel the music and dance.
Swing Club was created years ago to give everybody an opportunity to enjoy of swing dancing.

Swing dancing started as early as the 1920s, but reached it’s peak in the 1940s.  The style remained strong for several years.
It made a comeback in the 1990s. Movies such as “Swingers” and “Swing Kids” made a large contribution.   Now its your turn to join in the fun.
The appealing rhythms surround the ballroom.  The dancers  move swiftly around.  Swing dancing possesses many impressive, almost intimidating, techniques.  The atmosphere is ideal for learning and the only way to learn is to try.
“It’s fun,” says Isaiah Palmer, Swing Club president, “That’s how I learned; I just went to Swing Club.   I didn’t know how to dance a few months ago. I just came to Swing.”
Some dedicated members have displayed their skill in competitions over the past years.   Members under the age of eighteen will be dancing in the upcoming performance of “Grease”. “Grease” will run November 11-14 and 16-17 at Mont Harmon Junior High School.
You can find numerous reasons to come to Swing Club.   The opportunity is at your fingertips, it’s any easy and fun talent to acquire, and the people are eager to help.   Lee Jacobson says he comes “because the chicks dig it.”
Swing Club will run until the end of the semester and will begin again in January.   So bring your friends, and your dancing shoes, every Wednesday night at 9:30 in the Old Ballroom.
