Lady Eagles finish season against national powerhouse

The CEU volleyball team ended their season games against two Idaho teams on October 28 and November 2. Dropping both games, the team continues to struggle.
They played Northern Idaho at home on the 28, but didn’t get the results they were looking for. “They played a better game than what they have been playing,” said Coach Brent Martindale, “but we still made to many mistakes.” The team lost three toughly played games at the BDAC 17-30, 27-30, 22-30. Amy Warburton had 12 kills in this game and Brooke Wilson had 6 kills.

On November 2 the team was in action again against number-one ranked SWAC team Twin Falls, Idaho in Southern Idaho. The team again played pretty well but not good enough against CSI and dropped three games -18-30, 17-30, and 18-30. Amy Warburton again led the team with 10 kills.
Coach Martindale said that he thought the team made some good progress against these two teams. He said that they are starting to play better and better as a team and that they have no place to go but up.
Martindale also said that another important thing to consider was the fact that the team from Southern Idaho still doesn’t know if they will be allowed to play in the conference tournament. He said that they are still waiting to hear the results of the appeal from Southern Idaho which is under investigation for recruiting too many international players onto their team. Martindale said that if SCI won the appeal, the tournament would be in Southern Idaho, but if they lost the appeal, the tournament would be in Northern Idaho. They are still awaiting the results of the appeal, which will hopefully not take too much longer. CSI also lost to Salt Lake Community College in their recent meeting last Thursday, which makes some people wonder if they are doing poorly because of this scandal.
Martindale said that he was excited about the tournament and he thinks that CEU vollyball has the ability to beat some of these teams. He said that hopefully the team gets it together as a team and does a little better than they have been doing.
