Next on the tee:

I am sure that each and every single one of us has heard someone that is close to us at one point in time say, “life isn’t fair.” It has been engrained into our minds from a young age that life really isn’t fair and that we shouldn’t expect it to be. I am sure that each and every single one of us has heard someone that is close to us at one point in time say, “life isn’t fair.” It has been engrained into our minds from a young age that life really isn’t fair and that we shouldn’t expect it to be. Learning to realize that life and sports aren’t fair is half of the battle that all of us must face.
In the movie “Rocky Balboa,” Rocky says, “let me tell you something that you already know…The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place, and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is going to hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It is about how hard you can get and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That is how winning is done.”
All of us at some time realize that life isn’t fair and that we are going to catch some bad breaks; we are going to get hit hard and things aren’t going to work out. The real secret to life is figuring out how to keep moving forward and accepting that life isn’t fair.
Never is the fact that life isn’t fair more apparent than on the field or court. Athletes work so hard to even have a shot at playing as a professional, and then they get injured and everything that they have worked for ends. This is kind of a drastic view on things because it doesn’t happen all of the time. But if every single one of us lost everything that we had worked for our whole lives in one moment, we would say that life wasn’t fair.
A little less dramatic point from sports is something that happens every time two teams meet and play. One team wins and one team loses, a simple enough idea but it still isn’t fair. Both teams have prepared for the contest, given it their all, but like always, one team wins and one team loses.
What we all need to do is just keep moving forward and fighting so that we don’t let this unfair life get the best of us. Once we do all of this, we reach what Vince Lombardi the great NFL coach called man’s finest hour and greatest fulfillment. He said, “I firmly believe that any man’s finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is the moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle, victorious.”
Life may not be fair but we can still come out on top and win in the end. So embrace how unfair life is and take advantage of it.
This is why life being unfair has been on the tee.
