Women’s basketball recruiting
Another season has come and gone. That does not keep the lady Eagles from continuing practice. As the spring semester comes to a close, the ladies will work on personal skills. This will allow for growth next fall. Many women practice ball handling and shooting techniques. Occasionally there will be a recruit or two that comes and scrimmages with the ladies.

Another season has come and gone. That does not keep the lady Eagles from continuing practice. As the spring semester comes to a close, the ladies will work on personal skills. This will allow for growth next fall. Many women practice ball handling and shooting techniques. Occasionally there will be a recruit or two that comes and scrimmages with the ladies.
When asked about who will be returning for next fall, Head Coach Dave Paur said, “We will have six sophomores; Candice Cornaby, Jasmine Tidwell, Priscila Santos, Abbie Kay, Elyse Ivy, and Kathryn Bigelow (James).” Paur talked about the recruiting process. Many athletes have come to campus and practiced with the team.
“We’ve have commitments from another six; Brooke Slade, a 6’ 10” post from Taylorsville; Hailee Parry, a point guard from Syracuse High School; Shelby Carson, a two-, three-, or four-position player from American Fork; Camila Scheneider, a 6’ Transfer from Oral Roberts; Amy Arbon, a shooter; and Whitney Fieldsted, 5’9” from Altamont. I think we are going to have a solid team this year,” said Paur.
He added, “It has been a productive recruiting year. We just need two more pieces to fit our puzzle. More offers have been made than spaces, even offers to those going to a four-year school. Recruiting takes time and money. Some schools have more money to offer than us.”
Many organizations have been cut from the Utah State University-Eastern campus. The athletics teams have been included in this. “This is the third year our budget has been cut. That’s not good and a tough situation. Other schools in the conference have three times the amount of money that our program does. We are significantly smaller,” said Paur.
Despite the cuts, it has been a successful for the women’s head coach. Paur mentioned about still looking for a post and point guard and three-point shooter to add to the team’s new dynamics. During the off seasons, the team will work on personal skills to contribute to next fall. The team will hold a summer camp June 13-17 at the USU-CEU.
