Free concert featuring Red Rojo

Long distance relationships are a drag. Now imagine making a band and having it long distance. The local band, Red Rojo, did just that and is playing in USU-Eastern Library Pit April 28 at 7:30 pm, sponsored by The Eagle staff. The event is free for the USU-Eastern community.
Red Rojo is a six-member band consisting of Johnny Adams (bass), Matt Adams (vocals, guitar), Jake Workman (vocals, guitar), Nate Manley (vocals, guitar), Sheldon Hamblin (drums) and James Zelnick (keyboard, synth, vocals).
Johnny, Matt, Sheldon and Nate all met at the USU-Eastern. Jake is Johnny’s brother-in-law and James is a friend of Johnny’s as well.
Red Rojo started as a long distance band. This means they would record parts of songs and then send them to each other through e-mail. “Over time things just got better and better. We decided to get together in Salt Lake to jam . . . since then it has been a delight,” Matt said.
Nate and Sheldon were part of another band called King Crest, originally. The two bands decided to come together to form Red Rojo.
They got the name “Red Rojo” because some band members speak Spanish and the name has dual meanings. One: it is the word “red” in both languages and two: it translates to “Red Web” as well. This was a reason because they like to keep their fans in touch with the band and get suggestions from them via the Web/internet.
Red Rojo will be playing in the pit at 7:30 pm on April 28 and the event is free. The Eagle staff wanted to offer the students something to attend that is free. The staffers like live, outdoor soncerts, so this is their contribution to celebrate the end of spring semester.
Bring chairs, blankets and cushions to enjoy the rock sounds of Red Rojo.
