Marriage: in conclusion

I have learned an awful lot in the nine months I have been married; about Henry, about myself and about being married. But somehow, the more I learn about all three of these things, the more I feel like I have a lot left to discover.
My father once told me that it wasn’t until he had been married to my mother for about 7 years that he finally felt like he really understood her. I guess I can understand that. I think that Henry and I are still a mystery to each other sometimes. But I have learned a few things so far and I think the most important one is what I like to call “The Three C’s.” They are communication, commitment and compromise.
From what older couples have told me, and from what I’ve experienced first-hand, a marriage will not work without these three factors. They are important in ever aspect of a marriage, from who washes the dishes to getting a puppy, to moving, to when you will have babies. Henry and I try to implement the three C’s into everything we do, and I am happy to report that after 9 months, we are still madly in love.
