Former student killed on Highway 6
A 30-year-old former Utah State University Eastern student from Price died Oct. 2 after hitting a semi on State Road 6 in Spanish Fork.
Daniel Pike, who served as news editor of The Eagle in 2015, was driving east when he struck a semi-truck that was headed west. According to the Utah Department of Public Safety, he was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from the car.
As a dual JCOM and geology major, Pike loved to write about anything outdoors. He was a contributing writer the USU Eastern magazine. Well read, he loved to talk about the world and politics. He also loved music and played guitar in several bands during his life.
A friend to all, he was a great student and appreciated the knowledge he gained.
When the story of his death hit social media, people commented how he had a friend in every social circle. Someone wrote about his subjective and intelligent view of politics and “our curious social constraints.” They talked about Pike’s warm personality.
Services for Pike are pending.
