Left-handed pitcher Colton Hill is a big returning piece to the Utah State Eastern baseball team for this spring season. He is a 22-year-old sophomore returning USUE to play his second year in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
He went to Salem Hills High School located in Salem, Utah, where he excelled, winning not only a state championship, but was named 4A MVP as well. Hill said, “My most memorable moment during the state playoffs was when I hit a grand slam late in the semi-final game.”
Hill then went on to pitch in the state championship game leading his team to a state title. Soon after graduating high school, Hill decided to serve an LDS mission in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
After returning, he decided to attend USUE to pursue major in business and play baseball. Hill said that he takes his school work seriously and being a student athlete is important to him.
His favorite part about living in Price the last few years is, “I enjoy living on campus with all of my close friends and teammates, I have built friendships that will last a lifetime.” Hill said.
This season he says, “I am really looking forward to coming together as a team, improving every day and ultimately reaching our full potential as a team . . . This year we have a lot of returning players with experience playing in such a tough conference.”
Eastern’s baseball team had a great fall competing with every single team they played against, Hill playing a big part in the team’s success.
Aside from his grizzly appearance, he is a giant teddy bear who loves making people laugh and making new friends. The next time you see him around campus, don’t hesitate to meet not only a great athlete, but also a nice, down to Earth person.
