The Nighthawk Review, USU Eastern’s literary magazine, is accepting poetry, fiction, drama and personal essay submissions for its 2017 issue.
A USU Eastern tradition since the 1970s, The Nighthawk Review is staffed by a team of student editors who carefully read each creative writing piece submitted, and choose a number of the submissions to be published in the magazine which will be published later this semester.
Students are asked to send in essays and short stories of less than 10 pages, between three to five poems, or a short play to the editors for consideration. The Nighthawk Review is accepting submissions through March 3, and all submissions can be sent to [email protected]. Any questions can also be sent to the same address.
Jason Olsen, Ph.D., has been the adviser for the magazine since 2008, and strongly encourages students to submit work to the magazine. “It’s a remarkable opportunity to get work published for writers who are just starting out,” Olsen said. “The editors become better at what they do with the more poems and stories and essays they get to read.”
For students considering submitting work to the magazine, he says, “If you’ve got a poem, story, or essay you think our editors might like, please send it our way.”
