Entering her first year as a member of the Eagles basketball team, Brook Barrus will give nothing but her all to the program.
The shooting guard/ point guard hails from Mountain Crest High School in Hyrum, Utah, where she played softball and basketball and named all-state for both sports her senior season.
Barrus received a scholarship to play at Eastern, and she immediately knew it was the right choice when she fell in love with the coaches, facilities and teammates. What motivates her to play basketball, Barrus said, “The feeling I get when I am on the court to give everything I have for my coaches, my teammates and my family.”
Being on a team and building relationships with people is what she likes about sports. Always one with the ambition to set goals, she said, “To get better each day, to set the bar high and to meet that bar every time I step on the court.”
Barrus is grateful to be an athlete and the opportunity to continue to compete in sports. She credits a lot of learning through sports and loves the unpredictability of athletics.
After graduating from Eastern, Barrus plans on finishing her bachelor’s degree and being a counselor and potentially a coach. She is really excited for the upcoming year. #TakeFlight
