Four USUE soccer players receive all-SWAC honors at regionals

Eagles season finishes in the region XVIII tournament semifinal
Eastern won their last regular season game against Colorado Northwestern Community College but lost to College of Southern Nevada in the Region XVIII Tournament semifinals, finishing their season.
The Utah Eagles hosted their last home game on Oct 21. The game was not challenging at all as the team scored five goals on each half and left with a clean sheet. Omar Suarez, Luke Madsen, Jojea Kwizera and Jaden Dean scored once and Robin Bopesco, Carlos Heredia and Frank DeBry scored twice each. The game finished at 10-0 win.
Since it was the last game of the year all the sophomores received recognition from Eastern for their hard work. They included: Paul Zarkin, Kelshall Alexander, Jae Partridge, Austin Munhoz, Tristan Booth, Omar Suarez, Jose Adame, Xavier Smith, Robin Bopesco, Carlos Heredia, David Novoa, Jaysten Flowers, Nicolas Schapochnik, Renato Magalhaes and Kaina Elias.
The next weekend on Oct. 28 the Eagles traveled to Henderson, Nevada, to play their region tournament. They played against CSN, who finished first in the conference.
Besides having a solid game Eastern wasn’t enough for the Coyotes. After scoring one goal in the first half and two in the second CSN ended Eagles season with a 3-0 win.
Sophomore captain Paul Zarkin said, “I feel like the team had a lot of potential and we started off very good. But after they scored their first goal the whole team was rocked and we just could not find our opportunities.”
Several players were honored in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. Jae Patridge and Garrett Boston received the second-team recognition, freshman Frank DeBry, which was the lead scorer of the team, was named first-team all conference.
The Eagles finished the season with a 4-13-2 overall record. Head Coach Ammon Bennett said, “The team will take a break from it to recover and they will get in the weight room then play some spring games coming up,”
