The Eagles men’s basketball team will face the Snow College Badgers for fan appreciation night next Thursday. The battle between the Eagles and the Badgers can be traced through history, with the Snow College Badgers pulling ahead each time. In the past five years, the Badgers have10 wins and five losses against the Eagles. Snow also ended last season ranked No. 24 in the NJCAA. This year the outcome may be different.
With the season only a little more than halfway through SWAC play, the Eagles already recorded more wins than their last season record of 12-20, with a tally of 14 wins and 9 losses this year. The Eagles have a home court advantage, with six wins and only one loss on their home court, while the Badgers struggle when playing away games with a record of one win and three losses.
The teams have met once this year, with a disappointing 76-65 loss for the Eagles.
Sophomore Romain Boxus started the game by scoring the Badgers’ first nine points, and freshman Tristen Sadler scored 15 of his 17 points in the first half to help Snow take a 37-29 lead to the locker room.
Kristupas Totoris’s 3-pointer cut the Snow lead to just four points with 5:39 remaining in the game, but that was as close as the Eagles would get.
Jake Walker and Traycer Wilson posted back-to-back 3-pointers to extend the Badgers’ lead to 10 with 4:20 remaining in the game. Then Wilson’s dunk with 35 seconds remaining sealed the victory for the Badgers.
The Eagles are optimistic about this second matchup on their home court and have been working on defense in preparation.
