Utah State University Eastern Associate Vice President Greg Dart announced the appointment of Scott Madsen as the USU Eastern Interim Athletic Director shortly before the Christmas break.
Madsen will continue to be the head baseball coach as he serves as interim athletic director.
“We are excited for the leadership that Scott brings to the program,” Dart said. “Eagle athletics is in good hands.”
Before being named interim athletic director, Madsen spent the last 18 months serving as assistant athletic director overseeing the athletic department’s fundraising and development.
Madsen has been the head coach of the Eagles baseball program since 2003. Prior to that, he was an assistant coach in the program.
A nationwide search for the next USU Eastern Athletic Director begins this spring with more details to be announced at a later date.
USU Eastern Athletics is home to seven NJCAA sanctioned sports plus rodeo and the spirit squad that features a cheer, dance and drumline.
“I hope to be able to continue with the progress that we have-seen over the past years. We have a great athletic department and they are ready to take each program to the highest level of competition,” Madsen said.
