The Eagles stay on fire

The Eagles stand at 6-1 in the season as they defeated Otero Junior College and Truckee Meadows Community College, but lost to Salt Lake Community College during the past two weeks.
Eastern shuts down Otero
Utah State University Eastern womens soccer team destroyed Otero Junior College 3-0 on Sept. 6, in Henderson, Nev., giving them another victory in the season.
In just the first half alone, the Eagles scored two goals on Otero, securing their win. Claire Boman found the back of the net in the first three minutes. Five minutes later, Ashley Bindley also found the back of the net, taking the Eagles to a 2-0 lead.
In the second half, Morgan Cragun, assisted by Claire Boman, found the back of the net for the last time during the game, securing the Eagles victory over Otero.
Goalie Meg Edwards had a shot on the goal during the second half that she was able to save, giving the Eagles one save for the game. Otero had 11 saves during the game. During the game, USU Eastern had a total of 19 shots while Otero only had four. The Eagles had only five fouls while Otero doubled them with 10 fouls.
First loss of the season
The Eagles had their first loss of the season to Salt Lake Community College with a score of 3-1 on Sept. 12, in Salt Lake City, Utah, at Zions Bank Stadium. The only Eagle goal was scored by Shealee Heywood when she found the back of the net in the second half.
Unfortunately, the Eagles were no match for SLCC. The Bruins had a goal in the first half and two goals in the second, giving them the three points to win the game. USU Eastern had a total of nine shots in the game with SLCC almost doubling that number with 14 shots.
The Eagles and Bruins tied with four saves each by goalies Edwards and Siuana Pauni. The Eagles had five fouls with the Bruins, who had 12 fouls. Brookly Anderson, Requel Whacott and Ashlee Brindley each got a yellow card during the game.
USU Eastern women’s soccer
The Eagles defeated Truckee Meadows Community College 3-2 on Sept. 14, in Reno, Nevada.
Logan Duran found the back of the net during the first half, giving the Eagles an advantage over TMCC. The Lizards then scored two goals on the Eagles before Brindley found the back of the net during the second half, tying the game 2-2. The game went into overtime and in the second half of OT, Brooke Stoker found the back of the net, breaking the tie and giving the Eagles their sixth win of the season.
The Eagles had 11 shots while the Lizards had none. Goal Keeper Edwards had 16 shots on her goal and was able to save 14 shots, while letting two slip past her. USUE had 10 fouls while TMCC had zero.
This game places the Eagles at 6-1 this season. Their next game will be against Colorado Northwestern Community College on Sept. 21 in Craig, Colorado. They return to their home field on Thursday, Sept. 26, when they host the College of Southern Nevada at 3 p.m.
