Eagles begin season split 2-2 Lots of new faces on the court

The Utah State University Eastern mens basketball team started its season by playing a scrimmage against Colorado Mesa University on Oct. 26. The next two games were against Power 2 Play Elite and Laramie County Community College on Nov. 1 and 2 in Cheyenne, Wy. 

Eagles lose to P2P Elite

The Eagles lost the first basketball game of the year to P2P Elite 114-104 on Nov. 1, in Cheyenne Wy. 

The Eagles scored 50 points in the first half and 54 in the second. P2P Elite scored 53 points in the first half and 61 in the second.

The top five scorers of the game were Christian Haffner, Jeffery Hunt, Gabriel Olivrira, Vojtech Ruzek and Donaval Avila. 

Christain scored 29 points, had one rebond, one assist and two steals. Jeffery scored 19 points, had two rebonds, four assists and one steal. Gabriel scored 17 points, had six rebounds, four assists, three blocks and one steal. Vojtech scored 12 points, had five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Dononal scored 12 points, had two rebounds, three assists and one steal.

Eagles lose to LCCC

The USU Eatern mens basketball team lost to Laramie County Community College 84-82 on Nov. 2, in Cheyenne, Wy. 

The Eagles scored 43 points in the first half and 39 in the second. LCCC scored 39 points in the first half and 45 in the second. 

The top four scorers of the game were Vojtech Ruzek, Gabriel Olivrira, Jeffrey Hunt and Dillon Sorensen. 

Vojtech scored 19 points, had ten rebounds, one block and one steal. Gabriel scored 15 points, had nine rebonds, one assist and two steals. Jeffrey scored 11 points, had four rebounds, three assists, one block and three steals. Dillon Sorensen scored 11 points, had one rebound, three assists and two steals. 

The Eagles will return to the court on Nov. 8, in Price to play Impact Academy. The Eagles are 0-2 overall.
