Top 5 protein foods
what foods should you be eating to have the most protein intake? Here are the top five foods with the most protein.
Whether you’re trying to gain or lose weight, or just trying to eat healthy, protein is one of the most important things to have in your diet. But what foods should you be eating to have the most protein intake? Here are the top five foods with the most protein.
Starting off at number five eggs. Eggs are a great start to the day and are packed with protein! They’re not the best source of protein you can get. With each gram of protein being four calories, eggs have 77 calories for six grams of protein. For each gram of protein there are 13 calories.
Number four is ground pork. Just like the rest of this list meats are the best source of protein to calories. A regular serving of ground pork is three and a half ounces, which is 297 calories for 25 grams of protein. Knowing that one gram of protein will be four calories, ground pork is 12 calories for one gram of protein. Just one calorie better than eggs.
Number three is lean beef. Everyone loves a good burger. It is just flat out of the best meals, but did you know lean beef is a great source of protein? For four ounces of lean beef or about one patty, there are 154 calories for 24 grams of protein. Using the same four for one process there are six calories per gram of protein. Lean beef is over half of the calories of eggs per gram of protein!
Number two is lean chicken breast. Everyone knows someone who would eat chicken nuggets for every meal, or maybe you would. Although lean chicken breast is a little different, it is still in the same sort of meal and packed with protein. For three and a half ounces or one chicken breast, there are 284 calories for 53 grams of protein. As you know by now using the four-to-one process there are five calories per gram of protein! Chicken breast is nearly pure protein!
Number one tuna. Well, I’m sure most of you all are broke college students like me and have probably lived off canned tuna and ramen at some point. I bet you didn’t know tuna is one of the most protein packed foods you can eat. With a four-ounce serving of tuna having 145 calories and 27 grams of protein, there are five calories per gram of protein. Just like a chicken breast being nearly pure protein, tuna is the same. But you may be asking. If they’re both having nearly the same macros, why is tuna better than chicken breast on this list? To put it simply, the price. Tuna is .85 per serving, whereas chicken breast is 2.12 per serving.
