“Dance Moms” eight seasons of mom’s arguing

The iconic dance instructor who runs the Abby Lee Dance Company, Abby Miller, has a group of girls that changes throughout the seasons. However, this group pretty consistently consists of seven girls.

Dance Moms has to be one of the best reality shows ever aired. Dance Moms first aired in July 2011 and ended in September 2019. The reality show consists of eight seasons with 224 episodes.

I’m not a huge fan of reality TV shows, but I’ve watched every episode of Dance Moms multiple times. The iconic dance instructor who runs the Abby Lee Dance Company, Abby Miller, has a group of girls that changes throughout the seasons. However, this group pretty consistently consists of seven girls. One of the seven dancers that are idolized by Abby the most is Maddie Ziegler.

Throughout the entire show, Maddie gets consistent special treatment from Abby, which always starts drama between her and the other moms because they want their daughters to have equal opportunities as Maddie. It makes sense why they get upset, these moms want their daughters to be the star. But I am a Maddie stan until the day that I die. I wholeheartedly believe that Maddie genuinely deserves the treatment she got from Abby.

Abby can say some out-of-pocket things against these other girls–which I don’t agree with–but at the end of the day, Maddie worked harder and honestly just performed better than all the other girls. She also became the most famous after the show ended.

The best part of the show is watching the moms argue, I mean the show is called Dance Moms, so you can tell where the drama lies. Maddie’s biggest threat is Chloe Lukasiak, and Chloe’s mom, Christi, has to be the most entertaining. The first time I watched the show, I disliked Christi. However, as the series continues, Abby brings in new girls, and viewers get to watch Christi chase all of them away. No matter how many times the original team leaves, they always come back. So for someone who enjoys the original team, it’s just so amusing and comforting to know that within a few episodes, the team goes back to normal.

One lady, Cathy, and her daughter ViviAnn also join the team for a while. Cathy acthally owns her own studio, but felt like ViviAnn would get more opportunities with Abby, so she brought her daughter to the ALDC. Cathy thinks she’s too good to be a “team player” so she kinda just shows up and leaves whenever she wants. Abby essentially tells Cathy her daughter can’t dance, so Cathy brings her daughter back to her studio. This creates absolute chaos because Cathy only lives to beat Abby. So every single competition that the ALDC goes to, Cathy is also there trying to beat them. Which gets old, really fast.

Between Abby yelling at the dancers and the moms, the girls competing, the moms fighting with each other, and the whole situation with Cathy, the show is just absolute chaos and I love it. It’s hard to believe that none of it is scripted because it’s so bizarre. Producers edit and stage things to get reactions, but for the most part, it’s all genuine, which is crazy.

The show is trending again in 2023, and I’m super excited about it because right before it started trending I started rewatching it. All over my FYP on TikTok are clips of Dance Moms and edits, and it’s kinda nostalgic to see everyone talking about this classic. Quite honestly, it never gets old.
