USU Eastern Theatre Department Fall Production
With the start of the university’s Fall semester, Utah State University Eastern’s theatre department has announced its Fall production. Open auditions will be held on Friday, September 1st, in the Peterson Black Box theatre from 6 to 10:00 p.m. for the play Catch Me If You Can by Jack Weinstock and Willie Gilbert. The production is set to open October 5th in the Peterson Black Box theatre and runs through the 14th. Dr. Corey Ewan will be directing, and Serenity Singleton will be the stage manager.
Catch Me If You Can is a delightful psychological, comedic-thriller that first appeared on Broadway in1965 and ran for 111 performances. The action of the play takes place in the Catskill Mountains at a mountain lodge where an advertising executive has brought his bride for their honeymoon. Following a squabble, she leaves the lodge. Not returning after a time, the husband calls in the local police to investigate. An attractive young woman shows up insisting that she is the man’s wife which the executive denies. Her story is confirmed by a priest. A funny little man who owns a delicatessen enters and, before you know it, there are two murders at the isolated lodge.
Catch Me If You Can will keep you guessing while you chuckle at the twists and turns until the very end when, in true mystery format, the play unravels to a surprising conclusion. You’ll want to put the dates for this theatric gem on your calendar, for sure!
