USUE Baseball Recap: What You Have Missed

Over the last four weekends of baseball, the Utah State University Eastern baseball team has gone 8-8. After the Treasure Valley series, USUE played USU Club, Colorado Northwestern Community College, Salt Lake Community College and College of Southern Nevada. The Eagles record would come to 14-15 after these games. 

Eastern took on USU Club as the last preseason games of the year. The Eagles would sweep the Aggies in a four-game series. There was a lot of good that happened for USUE in these games. The scores for the games were, 11-1, 16-3, 10-0 and 15-0. Bodee Goins led the Eagles in hits this weekend with six hits total. Sawyer Hardman had five hits, Sam Beck, Conner Bancroft and Tyler Nelson each had four hits. Nate Rose, Hunter Gatti, McGwire Jephson, Preston Jacobson, Canyon Kutch and Zak Nelson all contributed with hits as well. In game one, Wayland Crane had five strikeouts, only allowing one run. Kade Hansen and Owen Teuscher both had four strikeouts in game two. Game three was all Sam Beck, with eight strikeouts and zero runs. Landon Salvesen had 11 strikeouts in game four, also allowing zero runs.

The Eagles then hosted the Colorado Northwestern Spartans in the first conference games of the year. Game one of the series was 10-1, game two was 12-7, Game three was 4-3, Game four was 11-1. All wins for the Eagles. In game one, Wayland Crane only allowed one run with six strikeouts, while Tanner Kofoed had two strikeouts with no hits. For game two, Kade Hansen, Owen Teuscher, Micah Del Rio and Nate Rhineer all pitched, combining for seven strikeouts with seven runs allowed. In game three, Sam Beck only allowed one run with three strikeouts, while Konner Candalot and Kyler Hansen helped contribute while Nate Rhineer got the save. In the final game of the series, Landon Salvesen had three strikeouts allowing six hits and one run. McGwire Jephson and Tyler Nelson had seven hits, Bodee Goins had six, Zak Nelson had five, Kaden Miller and Nate Rose had three hits, Mack Bright and Hunter Gatti had two while Sam Beck had one.

USUE faced off against SLCC in the second week of conference games. Game one was 6-0, game two was 7-5, game three was 11-3, and game four was 4-1, all in the Bruins favor. In game one, Wayland Crane had four strikeouts with five hits while Carter Perry closed with one hit allowed. Nate Rose and Sam Beck had two hits, McGwire Jephson and Bodee Goins had one. In game two, Kade Hansen had one strikeout, allowing seven hits. Micah Del Rio allowed two hits, and Tanner Kofoed gave up zero hits. Bodee Goins had two hits, Zak Nelson, Tyler Nelson, McGwire Jephson, Nate Rose, Sam Beck, Sawyer Hardman, Kaden Miller and Preston Jacobson each had one hit. For game three, Sam Beck had 10 strikeouts with eight hits given up while Owen Teuscher had one strikeout with four hits given up. Tyler Nelson, McGwire Jephson, Bodee Goins, and Kam Coburn each had a hit. In game four, Landon Salvesen started and had seven strikeouts with eight hits given up and Nate Rhineer came in and had two strikeouts with one hit given up. Zak Nelson, Bodee Goins, Preston Jacobson, Hunter Gatti and Kaden Miller each had a hit.

USU Eastern then faced the CSN Coyotes in Henderson, Nevada. The scores to the games were, 8-7, 11-7, 10-0, 10-4 all in the Coyotes favor. In game one, Wayland Crane had four strikeouts with four hits given up, Nate Rhineer had two strikeouts with four runs given up and Tanner Kofoed with three hits given up. McGwire Jephson and Kaden Miller each had two hits. Zak Nelson, Hunter Gatti, Sam Beck and Preston Jacobson each had one. In game two, Kade Hansen had two strikeouts with five hits given up, Carter Perry then had one strikeout with two hits, Owen Teuscher had two strikeouts with six hits. Nate Rose and Tyler Nelson each had two hits while Bodee Goins, Sam Beck and Kaden Miller each had one. In game three, Sam Beck started for the Eagles and had three strikeouts with six hits. Konner Candalot came in and gave up three hits. Zak Nelson and Hunter Gatti each had a hit. For game four, Landon Salvesen started on the mound, he had five strikeouts with five hits given up. Micah Del Rio came in and let up four hits, Preston Jacobson closed and had one strikeout with one hit. Tyler Nelson had three hits while Kaden Miller had two. Bodee Goins, Hunter Gatti and Mack Bright each collected a hit.
