USUE baseball wins three out of the four games vs CSI

Utah State Eastern baseball faced off against the College of Southern Idaho in a four-game series to close out the first half of conference play. All four games were a fight for both teams, each battling as hard as they could to win the series. In the end though, the Eagles would come out of this series with three wins and one loss. USUE has moved their record to 17-16.

Game one of the series was in the Eagles favor. Wayland Crane was dominant on the mound while the Eagles were seeing the ball clearly after a snowy morning. The score of the game was 5-0, with Wayland Crane starting on the bump. Crane tossed a complete game shutout and gave up three hits, two walks and had ten strikeouts. Nate Rose had three hits while Hunter Gatti gathered two. Zak Nelson, McGwire Jephson, Bodee Goins, Preston Jacobson and Kaden Miller each collected one. Jacobson’s lone hit of the game was an important two-run homerun. 

Game two was a back-and-forth affair. Eastern ended up taking the close game, 5-4. Kade Hansen started the game for USUE and had six strikeouts, allowing four runs. Preston Jacobson came in the fifth inning and had six strikeouts allowing zero runs. Jacobson earned the save for his efforts. Sam Beck, Nate Rose and Hunter Gatti each had two hits while Zak Nelson, Tyler Nelson, McGwire Jephson, Bodee Goins and Kaden Miller each had a hit. McGwire Jephson and Nate Rose each had a homerun in the game.

The third game of the series was a tough game for the Eagles. Unfortunately, The Golden Eagles would come out on top beating USU Eastern, 9-4. Sam Beck was on the mound for USUE and had four strikeouts with six runs. Tanner Kofoed came in and had no strikeouts with no runs allowed. Kyler Hansen closed for the Eagles, having two strikeouts with three runs scored. Bodee Goins had three hits while Zak Nelson, Tyler Nelson and Kaden Miller each had one hit.

The final game of the series was a big win for USUE. The score was 13-9. Landon Salvesen started this game for the Eagles and eight runs scored on him while the Golden Eagles tried to carry momentum from the last game. He also did have six strikeouts. Jarrett Kenyon then came in for USUE, having one strikeout with zero runs. Micah Del Rio then came in and had one run scored with no strikeouts but great time to stop the Golden Eagles. Nate Rhineer came in and closed for the Eagles, having one strikeout with zero runs given up. Sam Beck had four hits on the game. Hunter Gatti, Nate Rose and McGwire Jephson each had two hits. Kaden Miller and Mack Bright each collected a hit.
