USUE Athlete Feature: Amiah Timothy

Amiah Timothy is a sophomore at Utah State University Eastern. She was redshirted last year so she is playing as a freshman this year.

Redshirting in college sports is taking a year off from playing to recover from an injury while still being able to practice with the team. Timothy graduated from Carbon High School before coming to USUE.

“My favorite part about being on the team is definitely being with the girls, my teammates,” Timothy said. “We are together all the time, and we always find fun things to do. Not only on the court do we get along, but off the court we get along too. So that’s probably my favorite part, just bonding with the girls on the team.”

Last year, USUE’s women’s basketball team had an overall record of 13-12 and a conference record of 5-6. While we are not yet very deep into this season, Timothy was asked how it has gone so far. “It is going super good,” Timothy replied. “We have only had about four games [scrimmages] so far. We start our actual games in a little bit, in like a few weeks. But we are looking pretty good. We are looking like a solid team. I am excited to see what we are going to do this year.”

Since Timothy’s interview, the 2025-2026 season has started, with the USUE team currently standing at 3-1. She was also asked what she was hoping to accomplish this season. “For me, it is just to put all of my energy out on the court. To do my best individually and do what I need to for my team. Just to get better every day.”

Timothy has really been leaving everything on the court. In USUE’s recent game against the Wyoming All Stars, she led her team in rebounds with seven and overall points with 20 total.

Timothy was asked if there was anything she’d like to highlight from her experience as an athlete here at USUE. “It takes a lot of work, as an athlete and a student,” Timothy replied. “It’s like a full time job. You know, but that’s what dedication is for. So just know every athlete and student is putting in a lot of work. But it’s worth it. It’s so fun. I love my team, they are super great!” Timothy was asked if she was looking forward to their home games this season. “Oh yeah, I am super excited,” Timothy said. “It’s definitely something to be looking forward to.” Timothy has an exciting season in front of her.
