Logan, Utah- The USU Campus Store on Utah State University’s main campus is undergoing several changes, the largest of which is the addition of a Starbucks inside the store that will hopefully open in the first half of Feb. this year. The Starbucks in the campus store will offer cafestyle seating, something that was previously missing on the Logan campus.

Starbucks is a joint venture between USU Dining Services and the USU Campus Store. It started as a conversation about how the store had an underutilized area, which led to the idea of a Starbucks run by Dining Services inside the campus store. The idea later turned into reality and the construction of the Starbucks began in late summer. Dining Services has hired 16 employees and started their training with the tentative date of a soft opening of the Starbucks being Feb 2, 2026 and the tentative grand opening being Feb. 9, 2026. These dates are still tentative and are not set in stone.

Before being turned into a Starbucks, Jason Brown, the USU Campus Store director, said, It had gone through several remodels.” he then explained what changes this area has been through, “We had an old display window that we had taken the glass out and covered up. We had a storage closet with a whole bunch of HVAC controls in it, so we couldn’t really store anything in there. And then we had a room that’s been the Aggie Service Center for Aggie Tech, the cash cage for the cashiers, it’s been offices and it just isn’t great at any of them.”

There are several other renovations that are happening; a new Aggie Tech service desk that focuses on the tech services and repairs that they offer, new flooring on the northside to match the southside, as well as the addition of a dressing room. Adding the dressing room will make it easier for patrons to try on clothing without having to go across the hall to the south side of the store.

The new focus of Aggie Tech is to accommodate the growing need for tech repairs for Apple products on the Logan Campus. Brown, addressing this change, said, “10 years ago, we used to sell cameras- we sold GPSs and all things technology, but now your phone just does everything.” The demand for tech items has decreased, but the USU Campus Store has seen a rise in demand for repairs.

The new Aggie Tech area will be better suited for those seeking repair help with Apple devices. The campus store will still sell Apple products, but it will also have an area that emphasizes and accommodates those with service needs, rather than just selling.

Students, faculty, and patrons will soon be able to see all the USU Campus Store’s remodels, renovations, and additions. The tentative completion date is in February 2026.
