Where Utah State basketball sits in the Mountain West Conference

Logan, Utah-Utah State University men’s basketball is currently 7-2 in the Mountain West (MW) Conference and 16-3 overall. The Aggies are currently behind San Diego State University (SDSU). Putting the Aggies second in the Mountain West Conference (8-1) in standings as of Jan. 26, 2026.

Last year, 2025, USU’s men’s basketball team lost the MW’s regular season, but they made it to the semifinal round of the MW Conference tournament. They then lost to Colorado State University (CSU). Who later won the championship round and earned the bid to the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament. This year, for the 2025-2026 season, the Aggies are aiming to be the next Mountain West champions.

On Jan. 20, 2026, USU played the University of Las Vegas (UNLV) at USU’s home arena, the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, and lost by 10 points. For much of the game, the teams were evenly matched. The first half ended with a tie, 38-38. In the second half, the Aggies’ defense was no match for the Rebels’ offense, and the Rebels won 86-76.

Two days later, on Jan. 23, 2026, USU faced CSU at Moby Arena in Fort Collins, Colo., for an away game and won by four points. In the first half, CSU was up by 10 points, 35-25. The second half is when USU made up the double-digit deficit. The Aggies scored 40 points, bringing their points up to 65. While the Rams scored 26 points in the second half bring their score to 61. The Aggies beat the Rams, 65-61.

On Wednesday, the USU Aggies will face the University of Wyoming Cowboys (UW) at 7 p.m. at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. As of Jan. 26, 2026, Wyoming is 3-6 in the MW regular season, placing them 10th in the standings.

Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, there will be another home game at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum against the SDSU Aztecs. The Aztecs were the MW regular-season champions for the 2024-2025 season and are currently standing at number one in the MW conference.
