Utah State University hosts Paper and Clay Exhibition with entries from across the country

Upstairs in the Fine Arts building on the Utah State University campus, in the Tippetts & Eccles galleries, there are 70 art pieces from over 20 universities from across the United States. This exhibit is the “Paper & Clay Exhibition.” This exhibit is full of contemporary pieces by graduate and undergraduate ceramics or printmaking students, either created with clay or paper as the foundational medium. This exhibit is running until March 6, 2026 and the awards and reception took place on Feb. 26, 2026.

The pieces in this exhibit range from pottery that looks like it had been preserved from the past to colorful expressions of emotion. Each piece is unique to the artist. There is a teapot with the face of a sad clown and larger than life, colorful pills that say “I can do all things through d-amphetamine” with the dose decreasing when look at from left to right.

The works were judged by Kevin Snipes, a contemporary ceramics artist. Snipes holds a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art and later went on to do graduate studies at the University of Florida, graduating in 2003. He teaches workshops and works as a mentor.

The exhibit will continue for another week, running Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, March 6 will be the last day of the exhibit.
