Gypsie’s final tribute

This archived article was written by: Gypsie Delgado

The time has finally come where I am leaving this place I will forever call my second home. When first arriving in Price three years ago, I never thought that I would fall in love with such a small area. Coming here on a journalism scholarship, things started out rough, being the baby and leaving my home in Tooele was almost the end of my world, but something I knew I had to do.
Being born in a small town in Wyoming, I thought I could handle this. I ended up almost leaving after my first semester. I spent all my time in the newspaper room, skipping my classes and not being involved. After having lots of long meetings with my adviser, Susan Polster, she convinced me to stay and ride it out. I then decided to make the best of it.
CEU for me will not be remembered as the education but as the place where I met the people that have changed my life forever. Bill Osborn, my fearless ASCEU adviser, has been the only father that I have ever known and has always been there to help any students out that he can. Kate Alleman and Danielle Howa, always put a smile on my face no matter how sick I was. Dede Howa, who in the last year has taught me how to be truly happy with myself. To all those wonderful ladies in the admissions, financial aid office and especially Pat, thank you for all for the endless time you spent with me in distributing stipends, helping me with financial aid and just supporting me in my activities.
Kathy Murray has taught me the meaning of service and how doing a little means a lot to someone in need. Brad Watson thanks for teaching me the principles of how I can become a better leader and how to work with others. President Ryan Thomas, thanks for letting me interview you countless times and those wonderful cookies that Ann Thomas bakes and brings to us.
Les Bowen and Donald McCarty, I hope that you graduate someday. Executive Board has had a tough time this year and has probably held the most interviews out of ASCEU history. You’ve shown me strength, motivation, encouragement and most of all support. The Eagle, ASCEU and CEU, I leave my heart. You have been the greatest family that I could have ever expected. Thank you again; you have changed my life in so many different ways. Good luck in all that you do and don’t forget when your ready to transfer, come to Utah State University. Go Aggies!
