Over $200 was earned when the CEU Business Club hosted the “Beat the Pro” student bowling fund raiser event at Gateway Bowling Alley in Helper, Utah. A $5 cover charge allowed multiple bowling games and a chance to win a custom bowling ball donated by the No Tap Pro Shop.
President Erin Peczuh arranged for bowling pros Ed Howa and Joe Juliano to bowl along with 44 CEU students and their family and friends.
This effort showed support, and students had fun at CEU’s Business Clubs’ fund raiser event. The bowlers had a chance for some friendly rivalry at trying to beat pros Howa and Juliano.
With great skill, two bowlers, Cameron Oliver and Tuckett Slade, did beat the pros in a bowl off. This is the first time that students have beaten the pros in the history of the event. Both Oliver and Slade won the cost of admission back for beating the pros.
Before regular bowling resumed, the custom bowling raffle was conducted with CEU Business Club’s member Justin Bergeman winning the custom bowling ball.
This was the third fundraising event that CEU Business Club held during the fall 2005 semester. The two previous fund raisers were the “wet teacher contest,” in which CEU students had the chance to purchase water balloons and throw them at their favorite, or not so favorite, faculty and staff.
All proceeds from the “wet teacher” fund raiser were donated to Katrina Hurricane victims. Peczuh congratulates and thanks all that were brave enough to become moving targets for students to throw water balloons at.
The fourth CEU Business Club fund raiser of the fall 2005 semester is “Loserpalooza 05,” which is cosponsored by The Edge, Nextel and Little Caesars. This event will be held in the multipurpose center Friday at 7:30 p.m.
CEU Business Club is looking for new recruits to compete in Utah State DEX competitive events in Spring 2006.
The events include business simulations: apparel and accessories, financial services, hospitality, restaurant and food services, retail management and travel and tourism.
The case-study events include business law, business ethics, business-to-business, marketing, e-commerce, human resource management, international marketing, marketing management, sales manager and sports and entertainment marketing.
The prepared business events that students could do include advertising campaign, design presentation, entrepreneurship, sales representative and web-site development.
Utah State DEX competitors that place in the top three will compete in a national DEX competition and have a chance to win college tuition and add it to a remarkable resume to use for the rest of their lives.
