World War I film discussion series offered at library on Wednesdays
College of Eastern Utah’s Library was selected from 130 applicants to serve as a pilot site for “The WWI Years: America Becomes a World Power,” a six-part film discussion series. The library is one of 50 libraries nationwide selected to participate in the initial program organized by National Video Resources (NVR) in partnership with the American Library Association (ALA). The project is supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

“The WWI Years” explores the political and social history of the U.S. in the early 20th century. The library begins “The WWI Years” series March 1. It runs six weeks on Wednesdays from noon to 2 p.m. in the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center Alumni Room & Board Room.
We are delighted to have been chosen as one of the pilot libraries for this unique program focusing on one of the most important periods in American history, This program allows students and community members to use in-depth information from documentaries. An academic library is the perfect backdrop for this discussion because we can offer a full selection of resources for further study of any of these topics.

March 22 – MODERN WAR Shell Shock, & Men of Bronze: The Black American Heroes of WWI
March 29 – THE AMERICAN PEOPLE IN WARTIME African Migration in the Era of the Great War, & One Woman, One Vote
April 5 – PEACEMAKING Woodrow Wilson, Part II: The Redemption of the World & Return to Isolationism and Lost Peace: Ideals for a United World Fail
April 12 – AFTER THE WAR: THE TURBULENT YEARS Return to Isolationism & Lost Peace: Ideals for a United World Fail. Kim Booth, Institutional Research Coordinator and WWI enthusiast will lead a discussion of each session’s award-winning documentary.
