300 students attend CEU Career Fair

College of Eastern Utah and the JOBS Committee sponsored the annual Career Fair 2006 with over 300 students attending last week.
This year, as in the past, CEU encouraged a career information track, along with employment opportunities for people seeking jobs in this area. “More jobs were available than ever before,” said Lanore Cunningham from DWS who served as member of the JOBS committee. Many were able to fill out application and attend presentations from employers in attendance.

Over 300 people attended and were able to meet and talk to experts who were working in the career fields.  High school students from Carbon and Emery high schools, along with CEU students and community members who are interested in changing careers, finding employment, or going back to school, were invited to attend.
Some organizations were seeking to hire and others were in attendance just to provide information about their careers and activities around the state. Major colleges from throughout the state were signed up to attend, but due to the weather conditions some had to turn back, but those who forged ahead stated that they enjoyed this event, said Kathy Murray, CEU employment counselor.
All of the military branches were in attendance in flying colors and made a great impact on the overall success of this event, Murray said.   An individual from DWR Wildlife stated, “Anyone who missed this event, missed something worthwhile.”    He added, “If his child was in one of the high schools and had not been encouraged to attend, he would had been a very angry parent.”
Organizations who were responsible for this event included CEU, Price City, Carbon County Chamber of Commerce, Department of Workforce Services, Vocational Rehabilitation, Southeastern Utah Applied Technology and Carbon School District.
