Uhligs buy 200 electrical receptacles to help students
Lately the students that live in Tucker have been complaining that the outlets do not work properly. They do not hold the plugs in the wall or they would short out.
Dr. George Uhlig attended an ASCEU Executive Board meeting and heard about this problem. CEU was going to purchase a few plugs and the students living in Tucker would choose the three worst rooms and those would be the ones replaced.

Lately the students that live in Tucker have been complaining that the outlets do not work properly. They do not hold the plugs in the wall or they would short out.
Dr. George Uhlig attended an ASCEU Executive Board meeting and heard about this problem. CEU was going to purchase a few plugs and the students living in Tucker would choose the three worst rooms and those would be the ones replaced.
When Uhlig found this out, he found out that the outlets would only cost $1.01. “My wife and I have always been sensitive to student needs … and we recognize that student’s health is primary in our book and we love the students. Because of that and because the plugs were only $1.01 a piece. I figured, gee, I could easily afford to spend 200 bucks and buy 200 plugs.”
The main problem after Uhlig purchased the plugs with his own money was that he got white plugs and they wanted ivory plugs. So they made the switch about a week and a half later to the ivory plugs.
Uhlig’s understanding is that the plugs are now starting to be put into the Tucker dorms. “If indeed the plugs have not been installed in Tucker, what I surmise is that once my knee heals from knee cap removal, that probably the president and I will go over to Tucker and replace the receptacles together.”
He also mentioned that the college needs to understand that the president as been very willing to help the college in doing these kinds of things. The presidents kind of runs the boilers around here.
Uhlig added, “If I got the keys to Tucker over the summer to replace receptacles, I’d find myself working shoulder to shoulder with the president, we would have a good time.”
“Sometimes all it takes is for someone to donate the material and others will get on the ball and do it,” he said.
Hopefully that by the start of school next fall, Tucker will have all new outlets. There are also some other things that needs attention in the dorms, we can only hope that soon those problems will be addressed and fixed as well.
