Come get a S.N.A.C.
Around 2022-2023, Allie Chamberlain started a snack pantry in the nexus. It originally started as a couple of shelves with food she bought, with minute donations seldom used. Later in early 2025, the snack pantry on the Logan campus was joined with the one here.
Taking the same name, S.N.A.C, which stands for Student Nutrition Access Center, and also gaining donations from the Food Bank of Utah. Allie Chamberlain had an old office in the nexus converted to the new pantry, and from there it’s been that way ever since. She had it placed there not only to feed the hungry but also because the nexus is a comfortable environment that soothes insecure thoughts, making it easier for people facing food and financial insecurity to feel less awkward.
Attempting to clean the mess left from toxic thoughts of judging or being judged. It’s already a worry to worry about grades, food is something we should all have access to, if you don’t eat, you can’t think, can’t work. Don’t be ashamed if you need it. It’s inevitably part of life and a thousand percent natural. How do you think we got where we are today? Someone needed food, shelter, and water, and we’ve been working to get those more obtainable ever since.
It’s important that this open avenue is used by students, regardless of financial standing. Because what if someone never takes it and it goes to waste? It’s thoughts like this that make some food systems counteractively fail. It’s good to be selfless but also take care of your needs. It might be an “embarrassing” moment of need that could lead to a prideful moment of success. So please take care of yourself and come to the Student Nutrition Access Center and grab something to eat. They don’t only have food but sometimes they have other things like hygiene products and other useful items.
