If you counted all the games the men have played this season, including preseason, they would be 9-1. Coach Bryan Zollinger is optimistic about his team and the season commenting, it’s nice to be working with a group of hard working young men that have a lot of character.
The team is healthy this season with the exception of Clint Lee who is suffering from lower back problems but will probably play Friday. Bronson Harker is also injured with a dislocated ankle and may not play this season, Coach Z. added.
Coach David Paur’s season has begun for the CEU women’s basketball team. With last year’s leading scorer Elisha Harris sitting on the bench because of an injury and facing strong teams early the Lady Eagles are 1-4.
The Eagles dropped games to Arizona Western College 69-62, Yavapai College 72-65, Central Arizona College 82-55 and Casper College 81-63. CEU’s win came when they visited Sheridan College with a score of 68-59. According to Paur, the team needs to be tougher on defense and more patient on offense. After two games at Glendale Community College in Arizona on November 17-18, the Eagles first home game will be November 27 at 5:30 p.m. in the BDAC. They will face Oregon’s Treasure Valley Community College, a team that used to be in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
Both teams begin conference play Dec. 8-9 at home against Colorado Northwestern Community College in the BDAC. The women play at 5:30 p.m. and the men at 7:30 p.m.
