College of Eastern Utah’s Library is open this semester and prepared to assist students, faculty and staff with research requests and other types of information-related needs. By way of information for new students, the CEU Library is located at the center of the campus in the large white building just east of the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center and west of the SAC.
The library is home to a myriad of information sources for students to tap into as they study at the College of Eastern Utah. The library provides free access to many scholarly journals that support the academic programs at the college. These journals are available in hardcopy and electronic format. In addition to books, the library also owns many books /music on CD and cassette as well as a collection of both popular and academically themed DVDs/videos. If you haven’t had the opportunity to visit the library, I encourage you to make time in your schedule for a visit. The library staff would love to see you and assist you in setting up a library account.
For returning students, we welcome you back to the library as well. The library remains the best place on campus to access materials for research. Also, just as a reminder, the library has five-study rooms which students may reserve or checkout on a first come, first served basis. The study rooms are usually quite popular as they give students the opportunity to sit in a quiet room and focus on their studies or they can provide an environment that is conducive to group work.
The library has 13 reference computers which access the Internet. The library also maintains an on-site computer lab which has Internet access and Microsoft Office.
Although the library at CEU is an academic library, we realize that students, faculty and staff may sometimes seek out information that is intended primarily for self-enrichment or that relates to hobbies and other non-academic interests. Recently several romance novels, popular videos and several different scrapbook magazines have been donated to the library. Among the scrapbook magazines are issues of: Paper Crafts, Creating Keepsakes, Memory Makers, Rubber Stamper and Simple Scrapbooks. For the outdoor enthusiast the popular magazine Outside has also recently been donated to the library.
The new magazine donations are located on the turnstiles on the north side of the library. This is an opportunity to tap into some information that hasn’t been as readily available at this library until now.
Please feel free to visit the library for more information. The staff looks forward to seeing you.
