cutting hair for Love

Jessica Barton was one of several students and community members who had almost 10 inches of hair cut off by CEU cosmetology students to donate to Locks of Love last week. This ritual has become somewhat of an annual event under the direction of cosmetology instructors Debbie Prichard and Linda Davis.
Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. The company meets a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics.
Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.
According to the Locks of Hair website, most of the hair donated is by children, for children.
For the second year in a row, the event was organized by Jessica Juliano who takes a full load of classes at CEU as well as Carbon High School. She will graduate from CEU in May 2007 and Carbon High School in June 2007.

I don’t know if I could cut my hair like that, such a great story though. So many men and women suffer from patterned baldness and hair loss. Locks of Love is a great option because hair transplant surgery isn’t available everywhere such as Beverly Hills hair transplants.
