King appointed to key position
The Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Student Services, Brad King, was selected to replace Salt Lake City Mayor-elect Ralph Becker as the Democratic House members party leader in the chamber for the 2008 legislative session.
King, a democrat from Price, has served in the Utah House of Representatives the past 11 years. His district includes part of Carbon, Emery, Grand and all of San Juan County. He has been employed at CEU for almost three decades in several aspects of student services.

King, a democrat from Price, has served in the Utah House of Representatives the past 11 years. His district includes part of Carbon, Emery, Grand and all of San Juan County. He has been employed at CEU for almost three decades in several aspects of student services.
According to a Salt Lake Tribune article, King said his priorities in the coming year are advancing the party’s views on health care and education and working to increase the number of democrats in the legislature after the 2008 election. He said work is already under way to recruit quality candidates.
“We are the loyal opposition and that gives us some responsibility to represent those who don’t have a voice and to remind our [republican] colleagues of our priorities, things that perhaps they overlook,” King reported to the Tribune.
Other democratic leadership includes Rep. David Litvack of Salt Lake City, minority whip; Rep. Carol Spackman Moss of Holloday, assistant minority whip; Rep. Phil Riesen of Holladay, succeeds Litvack as caucus manager.
The democrats are outnumbered in the legislature with the republicans holding a 55-20 margin in the house.
