Hello, my name is Michael Tryon and I am the 2007-2008 Trade and Industry Senator. My major is Welding Engineering. I am a graduate of Carbon High, class of 2007. My senior year I won the Skills USA state tournament and was able to go to Kansans city and compete in the national tournament, placing 31st out of 50. I have set a goal to compete again at the college level in 2008-2009 and win the state and national titles. I really enjoy being the Senator for Trade and Industry; I admire the staff and how much fun it has been to work with them.
Cosmetology has just started a new barbering program. Established this spring the program offers a license when completed. Cosmetology is sending 12 different students to the Skills USA state competition in subjects running from hair styling all the way down to leadership. I would like to complement these hard working women and wish them the best of luck to them in the skill tournament.
The staff in automotive had the pleasure setting up a training seminar and contest for the Southeastern area. San Juan hosted the training seminars and the automotive staff thought they did a wonderful job and the hospitality was great. The high schools that attended were Grand, San Juan, Whitehorse and Monument Valley.
Mason Winters, a 2007 CEU graduate has come back to compete in a skills tournament and has a goal set to make it on the USA international welding team. The weld shop had four students attend the great western weld off on Feb. 16, CEU student Mason Winters took second and former student Jeremiah Garcia took third.
That’s about it that’s new in Trade and Industry but I would like to take the time to say that all the professors in Trade and Industry are really great to work with and every one of them are work very hard, and give the very best to their students.
