Coach Z wins coach of the year, heads to nationals

Congratulations are due to former College of Eastern Utah men’s Basketball Head Coach, Bryan Zollinger who has been named Jayhawk Coach of the Year (Region 6, NJCAA).
His team won the region championship with a 69-58 victory over Colby Community College at the Colby Community Building on the final day of the regular season.
Seward County collects its fifth men’s basketball Jayhawk West title (1985, 1995, 1998, 2002, 2008) in the program’s 39-year history. This year’s title marks the first-ever conference championship won by a first-year Saints’ head coach.

Seward County collects its fifth men’s basketball Jayhawk West title (1985, 1995, 1998, 2002, 2008) in the program’s 39-year history. This year’s title marks the first-ever conference championship won by a first-year Saints’ head coach.
After being named the seventh head coach in Seward County history on April 24, 2007, Zollinger has led the Saints to a conference title and to the No. 1 seed in the Jayhawk Western Division.
Seward County improves to 29-5 overall and finishes the Jayhawk West Conference with a 13-3 league record.
The Saints played for the conference championship on March 11 against Cowley College and won with a score of 71-61. They will represent their conference at the NCJAA national tourneyment in Hutchinson, Kansas held March 18-22.
While at CEU he recorded a 164-147 (.527) overall record, posted six winning seasons and led CEU to nine post-season appearances at the Region 18 Tournament. Perhaps his most well known player was Tyler Kepkay who plays for University of Utah.
