By visiting our card catalog found on the library’s homepage at: www.ceu.edu/library/ visitors will find over 500 resources available in the library catalog when performing a basic keyword search on the word CRIME. Further basic searches using other relevant criminal justice general keywords will result in such finds as: Serial Killer (49) found items in the catalog, murder (472) found items in the catalog, forensic (129) found items in the catalog, trial (134) found items in the catalog and DNA and Crime (11) found items in the general electronic card catalog.
The titles of some of the nonfiction criminal justice books owned by the library are: Inside the Criminal Mind by Stanton E. Samenow, Serial Killer and Sadistic Murderers Up Close and Personal by Jack Levin, Classic Crimes by William Roughhead, Crime Beat: A Decade of Covering Cops and Killers by Michael Connelly, Mortal Evidence: The Forensics Behind Nine Shocking Cases by Cyril Wecth, and Greg Saitz, Dangerous Women by Larry A. Morris, Predators: Who They Are and How to Stop Them by Gregory M. Cooper and Michael R. King, The Most Evil Men and Women In History by Miranda Twiss and Who They Were: Inside the World Trade Center DNA Story the Unprecedented Effort to Identify the Missing by Robert C. Shaler.
Through Academic Pioneer, also located on the library homepage at www.ceu.edu/library, users may access thousands of articles in the electronic subscription databases that pertain solely to criminal justice. Electronically accessible articles on criminology are available many of the CEU databases and provide reliableinformation from newspapers, magazines, journals and scholarly peer reviewed journals as well as many government reports and proceedings on trials and infamous criminals and crimes.
One electronic database that focuses entirely on criminal justice is call Criminal Justice Abstracts (CJS) and is located on Academic Pioneer. CJS provides coverage from 1968 to current and provides coverage of criminology and related fields from journals, books, and government publications throughout the world. Although the information from this database often requires use of our interlibrary loan system the information for the criminal justice student is abundant and extremely pertinent to that area of study. A quick and easy search on the keyword “forensic” results in nearly 2,000 abstracts.
The library also has several videos and DVDs that address topics of interest in criminal justice. Some of these titles include: Zodiac, Serial Killers, The Boston Strangler, Youth Crime, and Al Capone.
