Lady Eagles struggle to get back into the season

The College of Eastern Utah Lady Eagles continue to struggle to secure a victory, resulting in a four-game losing streak to Salt Lake Community College, Snow College, College of Southern Idaho and North Idaho College.
Two weeks ago, the lady Eagles took a trip to Salt Lake to play the Salt Lake Community College Bruins on their Taylorsville campus. The Eagles suffered a 81 – 89 loss to the Bruins Jan. 29. SLCC is ranked number two in the Scenic West Athletic Conference standings, and number five in the National Junior College Athletic Association standings.

The College of Eastern Utah Lady Eagles continue to struggle to secure a victory, resulting in a four-game losing streak to Salt Lake Community College, Snow College, College of Southern Idaho and North Idaho College.
Two weeks ago, the lady Eagles took a trip to Salt Lake to play the Salt Lake Community College Bruins on their Taylorsville campus. The Eagles suffered a 81 – 89 loss to the Bruins Jan. 29. SLCC is ranked number two in the Scenic West Athletic Conference standings, and number five in the National Junior College Athletic Association standings.
Kaylie Robison was the leading scorer of that game. She ended with 26 points, seven rebounds and one assist. Bruna Deichmann also had a great game, with 21 points and two assists. Monique Bruggerman scored 14 points with three rebounds, and Samara Pereira had 11 points, five rebounds and two assists.
The next day, the Lady Eagles went to battle the Snow College Badgers on their Ephraim campus. The women played a great game, losing by three points: 66 – 69. The leading scorer was again Robison, with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Deichmann scored 17 points with two assists, and Patricia Smith had eight points with two rebounds and one assist.
This last weekend the Lady Eagles hosted two home games in the Bunnell-Dmitrich Center. The first game was against the College of Southern Idaho Eagles. Our women simply got outplayed, which resulted in a 65 – 86 loss.
Robison scored 27 points in that game, and also had six rebounds. Deichmann racked up 11 points with one rebound and two assists. Lavnat Alon had seven points with four rebounds and four assists. MaKenda Hill also scored seven points and had two rebounds. That win for CSI put them at number four on the SWAC standings, with a record of 9 – 5.
On Saturday the lady Eagles went up against the North Idaho College Cardinals. Despite losing 69 – 80 to the Cardinals, Robison still scored an amazing 29 points with 14 rebounds. Deichmann scored 14 points with four rebounds, and Alon had seven points, two rebounds and five assists. This win kept the Cardinals at number one in the SWAC Conference standings, with a record of 11 – 3.
This weekend the women head to Colorado to play Colorado Northwestern Community College at their Rangley campus. This is the only conference team CEU has been able to defeat all season and stand at the bottom of the SWAC statistics.
Make sure you stick around next weekend as the lady Eagles seek revenge against Snow College and Salt Lake Community College at home. Snow College is ranked at number three in the SWAC conference standings with a record of 9 – 5. The game is next Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the BDAC.
Also next weekend, the lady Eagles face off against SLCC again. SLCC is sitting at number two in the SWAC conference standings with a record of 11 – 3. overall record of 20 – 3. The game will be played right here in Price at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the BDAC.
