The Civic Chorale features several dozen talented singers from the college and community. The Chorale has been rehearsing weekly on Sunday evenings since mid-October and will be performing eight choruses from Messiah, including the famous “Hallelujah” chorus. The Orchestra is a collection of more than 25 skilled college and community instrumentalists.
Eight members of the Chorale have been chosen by audition to perform various solo selections of Messiah. Soloists include: sopranos April Miller, Kristi Ohlwiler, and Jenna Rae Rudolph; alto Anna Macdonald; tenors Ron Patterson and Kelton Wells; and basses Ben Clement and Malcolm Howard.
The performers respectfully request that attendance to be limited to those twelve years of age and older. Russell Wilson, director of choral activities and associate professor of music at USU Eastern, has been involved in preparing the chorus and soloists. Adjunct music instructor Elise Tuttle has been the rehearsal pianist and will perform as keyboardist with the Orchestra. Gregory Benson, vice chancellor and associate professor of music, will conduct the December 12 concert. Donations will be accepted at the door to help cover growing costs of the annual performance.
