Gallery Director Noel Carmack said the art created by participating students is as noteworthy as ever. “We are delighted to see such good work coming from students all around the state. It shows that their teachers and parents are continuing to encourage young people in the visual arts.” He noted that students from schools as far away as Tooele, Taylorsville, Logan, Ogden, and St. George participated again this year.
All artists of high school age (14-18 years old) are eligible to participate, including public high school students, home-schooled students and students attending private schools. Entrants are not required to be enrolled in an art class to participate.
An opening reception and awards ceremony for the High School Art Competition will be held Friday, Jan. 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. Participating students and parents are invited to attend. The public is welcome. Entrance into the exhibit is free.
